THE CITY OF 11 <br />'= ~`�' `'°" '•'' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />June 21, 2022 <br />Human Resources <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE <br />TEMPORARY, PART-TIME/SEASONAL CLASSIFICATION SALARY <br />STRUCTURE <br />SUMMARY <br />Compensation for temporary employees is established by the City of Pleasanton and <br />reflected in the City's publicly posted Temporary, Part-time/Seasonal Classification <br />Salary Structure. Periodically, salaries are studied and adjusted to ensure wages are <br />appropriate to attract and retain qualified employees to support the various programs <br />and services provided by the City. A recent compensation study conducted in response <br />to recruitment and retention issues in maintenance and several aquatics temporary <br />classifications revealed a need to increase the hourly pay for some classifications and <br />to expand the class series for Lifeguards. Staff is recommending wage adjustments as <br />provided in Attachment B. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution approving changes to the Temporary, Part-time/Seasonal <br />Classification Salary Structure as recommended. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This recommendation is estimated to cost $231,200 per year. It will add $31,000 to <br />current staff costs and is forecasted to add $200,200 to future staff costs, presuming <br />Step 5 wages and 1,000 hours per year each for three Maintenance Aide and five <br />Lifeguard II employees. The estimated cost will be incorporated in the mid -year updates <br />to the City's budget. <br />
