The request for $95,000 for the one-year extension is a
$25,000 increase from the originally approved $70,000 per one-year extension under
the contract. This increase to the one-year term is to accommodate rising fuel
surcharge costs and unexpected events. PSC performs essential services which include
routine hazardous waste hauling and disposal, non-emergency closure and
decontamination of storage structures and homeless encampments along waterways
and provides 24-hour emergency response in the event of a hazardous materials
incident.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve and authorize the City Manager to extend the Agreement with PSC from July
1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 for a not-to-exceed amount of $95,000.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The proposed $95,000 contractual amount for the one-year term extension is budgeted
in the FY 2022/23 Operations Services Department budget for hazardous materials
disposal as follows: $55,000 from Urban Runoff (44041701), $20,000 from Water
Operations (42040602) and $20,000 from Sewer Operations (43041202). The
appropriate fund will be charged depending upon the generation of the source of
material.
