1
THE CITY OF
= r; r CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON-
June
7, 2022
City Attorney
City Clerk
City Manager
TITLE: ADOPT FINDINGS REGARDING PUBLIC HEALTH RELATED TO THE
COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO SUPPORT CONTINUED VIRTUAL PUBLIC CITY
MEETINGS PER RESOLUTION NO. 21-1249
SUMMARY
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a state-wide declaration of emergency allows for the
City Council, subcommittees, commissions and committees to meet virtually. Even
though the City Council has returned to in-person meetings, City commissions,
committees and subcommittees continue to meet virtually. State law (AB 361, 2021)
requires the City to make public health findings to maintain virtual meetings. The
Council adopted such findings on October 5, 2021 by Resolution No. 21-1249, and
reaffirmed public health concerns on November 2 and December 7, 2021, and January
18, February 15, March 15, April 19, and May 17, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt by minute order the following findings:
1. COVID-19 variants continue to infect many people, resulting in illness, isolation,
missed work, and exposure of other co-workers and family members;
2. City commissions and committees can have large memberships, and meeting
rooms to not provide for adequate physical distancing;
3. Indoor air quality filtration recommendations cannot be achieved in all City
meeting rooms.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No effect. Existing staff will continue to facilitate virtual meetings.
Submitted by: Approved by:
Daniel Sodergren J celyn g Gerry Beaudin
City Attorney ity Clerk City Manager
