29 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> °°°' ==' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON, <br /> May 17, 2022 <br /> City Manager <br /> TITLE: REVIEW AND CONSIDER THE CITY'S LEGISLATIVE FRAMEWORK WITH <br /> THE 2022 FOCUS AREAS AND ESTABLISH THE CITY'S LEGISLATIVE <br /> POSITIONS ON SELECTED BILLS, AND REQUEST CITY STAFF TO <br /> MONITOR REMAINING LEGISLATION THROUGHOUT THE 2022 <br /> LEGISLATIVE CYCLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> SHOULD TAKE A FORMAL POSITION ON ADDITIONAL LEGISLATION <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Legislative Framework (Attachment 1) guides the City's response to pending state <br /> and federal legislation. The framework includes guiding principles, goals, and strategies <br /> that guide advocacy efforts on behalf of the City's interests. Within this framework, <br /> annual focus areas are established to guide the City's legislative positions. <br /> The City Council Legislative Subcommittee (Narum/Testa) met on April 21, 2022 to <br /> review and discuss the City's Legislative Framework with the 2022 Focus Areas and to <br /> discuss selected 2022 bills and consider recommending positions on these bills. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> The City Council Legislative Subcommittee and City staff recommend adoption of the <br /> City's Legislative Framework with the 2022 Focus Areas and to establish the City's <br /> legislative positions on selected 2022 bills and request that City staff monitor remaining <br /> legislation throughout the 2022 legislative cycle to determine if and when the City <br /> Council should take a formal position on additional legislation. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no financial impact. <br />
