City Enhancements $40,000 and General Fund 00140301 Building Maintenance
$50,000.
BACKGROUND
The Support Services Division is responsible for all City infrastructure maintenance
work plans which include several large and small-scale projects. These projects require
resources beyond City staff, such as the renovation of 200 Old Bernal Planning project,
exterior painting of the Senior Center, exterior staining of the cedar wood at the
Firehouse Arts Center, painting of the exterior stucco at the Pleasanton Cultural Arts
Center, exterior painting on a potable water reservoir, interior painting at two potable
water pump stations, and multiple graffiti abatements. Due to limited internal resources,
staff has relied on as-needed contractors such as with D&D to complete these
scheduled and non-planned projects.
In May 2019, the Operations Services Department conducted a Request for Bids (RFB)
for a variety of"As-Needed Services". During this bid process three contractors
submitted proposals for Interior and Exterior Painting Services: D&D Commercial &
Residential Painting, Vivid Accent Painting, and Ella Construction. In July 2019, the City
entered into multi-year agreements with all three contractors.
DISCUSSION
Many maintenance projects were deferred during the two years of the pandemic, which
impacted maintenance activities. To address the deferred maintenance and catch up on
projects, staff recommends amending the agreement with D&D Commercial &
Residential Painting Inc. and extending the term through FY 2023/24 and increase the
not-to-exceed amount from $300,000 to a total cumulative amount of $500,000 through
FY 2023/24 for the remaining term of the agreement.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by.-
Kathleen
y:Kathleen Yurchak
Director of Operations and Mahin Shah Brian Dolan
Water Utilities Interim Director Interim City Manager
of Finance
Attachment:
1.
