Attachment 1 <br /> Proclaims <br /> June 2022 <br /> as <br /> LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes the importance of equality and freedom, <br /> and is dedicated to fostering acceptance of all its residents and preventing discrimination including <br /> on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity; and <br /> WHEREAS, the nation was founded upon and is guided by a set of principles, including <br /> that every person is created equal;that all have rights to their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness; <br /> and that all shall be afforded the full recognition and protection of the law; and <br /> WHEREAS, June has become a symbolic month in which the lesbian, gay, bisexual, <br /> transgender, queer and questioning community and their supporters come together in various <br /> celebrations and recognition of pride in who they are and whom they love; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes it is strengthened by and thrives upon the <br /> rich diversity of ethnic,cultural,racial,gender,and sexual identities of its residents and workforce, <br /> all of which contribute to the vibrant character of the city. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Pleasanton City Council, does hereby <br /> proclaim June 2022 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Pleasanton and will have the Progress Pride flag <br /> flown at the City administration building at 123 Main Street in recognition of the contributions <br /> made by members of the LGBTQ+ community and to actively promote the principles of equality <br /> and liberty. <br /> DATED this 17th day of May, 2022. <br /> Karla Brown, Mayor <br /> Valerie Arkin, Vice Mayor Jack Balch, Councilmember <br /> Kathy Narum, Councilmember Julie Testa, Councilmember <br />
