Councilmember Testa clarified the motion
states the City Council supports the initiative going to the ballot for voters to decide. She advised the
voters did not get to vote on SB 9 or any of the other laws triggering this initiative.
Councilmember Testa clarified telling residents the City Council endorses adding the initiative to the
ballot is not the same as endorsing the initiative's details. She advised it is making a statement this
subject matter is so important the voters should have their say.
Interim City Manager Dolan requested more precision on the distinction between the two motions.
Councilmember Testa explained instead of the sample resolution, they are voting to state the City
Council supports the initiative going on the ballot for the voters to decide.
