THE CITY OF
VFW-
ams ::: : CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON,
May 17, 2022
City Attorney
City Clerk
City Manager
TITLE: ADOPT FINDINGS REGARDING PUBLIC HEALTH RELATED TO THE
COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO SUPPORT CONTINUED VIRTUAL PUBLIC CITY
MEETINGS PER RESOLUTION NO. 21-1249
SUMMARY
Meetings of the City Council, commissions and committees are generally required by
law to allow for public attendance and participation. With the COVID-19 pandemic, a
California declaration of emergency permits virtual meetings. While the City Council has
already returned to in-person meetings, the City is still working to return to in-person
meetings for all commissions, committees and subcommittees. Until then, State law (AB
361, 2021) requires the City to make public health findings to continue virtual meetings.
The Council adopted such findings on October 5, 2021 by Resolution No. 21-1249, and
again on November 2 and December 7, 2021, as well as on January 18, February 15,
March 15, and April 19, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt by minute order the following findings:
1. City commission and committee meetings are still not able to provide for
adequate physical distancing due to the small size of many meeting rooms and
the large membership of many of the commissions and committees;
2. Indoor air quality filtration recommendations cannot be achieved in all City
meeting rooms.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No effect. Existing staff will continue to facilitate virtual meetings.
Submitted by: Approved by:
Daniel Sodergren ocely K g Brian Dolan
City Attorney City Clerk Interim City Manager
