Small spatial changes. It was requested that small edits be made to the
maintenance path and the size of the Bankshot Basketball area.
In addition to the above changes the design team made small changes to the central
play area to better fit the existing grading of the site. The Sun Plaza and Entry Space
were reconfigured to provide an enhanced and more straightforward entry
experience.
The all -abilities playground expenditures to date are estimated to be $118,270, leaving
approximately $281,730 for design development and construction document services.
An additional $100,000 is required to complete the construction documents. Total
project costs are expected to be $8 million. Maintenance costs are projected to be high
and would require additional staff and resources. The project includes a significant
amount of design contingency at this conceptual phase, but as the details of the project
are further defined, it is expected that the contingency will be reduced, and the costs
transferred to the more defined construction items. Ultimately, the cost for construction
of the project will depend on when the project is constructed, potential design changes,
and whether any further changes are required during construction. Refer to Attachment
3 — Pleasanton All -Abilities Playground Opinion of Probable Cost for more information.
Per commission feedback, staff is researching possible grant and fundraising
opportunities and is confident that, at a minimum, partial additional funding could be
secured.
Staff is requesting that City Council review and approve the draft All -Abilities
Playground Master Plan and provide direction to staff how to proceed with the project.
Submitted by:
Stephen Kirkpatrick
Director of
Engineering
t
Heidi Murphy
Director of Library and
Recreation
Fiscal Review
4_1 L.
Mahin Shah
Interim Director of
Finance
Approved by:
Brian Dolan
Interim City
Manager
Attachments:
1.
