3.1 Character and Design Intent <br />The design for the Pleasanton All -Abilities <br />Playground aims to create a family -friendly <br />community space that values inclusivity, diversity, <br />and the preservation of the natural environment. <br />COMMUNITY SPACES <br />The design includes three communal space types: <br />spaces to gather, spaces to play and spaces to <br />recreate. These three types of spaces form the <br />foundation ofa' healthy community. <br />INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY <br />The playground features a variety of equipment <br />and activities that are easy to use and understand. <br />It celebrates art and culture through public art, <br />interactive sculptures, and includes universal <br />themes of acceptance and belonging through its <br />"Rise" theme, colors, shapes, sounds, and visual <br />experiences. <br />PRESERVATION OF THE NATURAL <br />ENVIRONMENT <br />The design preserves as many existing shade <br />trees as possible and promotes sustainable design <br />practices, low maintenance materials, and plants. <br />N <br />A sketch of the playground's center, redesigned to incorporate community and stakeholder feedback. <br />42 PLEASANTON ALL -ABILITIES PLAYGROUND <br />
