16 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> j�L£ASANTON© <br /> March 15, 2022 <br /> Police <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT STREET CLOSURES FOR <br /> CALENDAR YEAR 2022 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires City Council approval of parades and special <br /> events which necessitate the temporary closure of city streets and temporary parking <br /> restrictions. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the street closures for the 2022 Special Events as detailed in Attachment 1. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This information is being provided to give the City Council and the citizens of <br /> Pleasanton an estimate of personnel costs connected to street closures in 2022. <br /> It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 569 hours on street <br /> closures and event staffing relating to twenty-five special events this year. The <br /> Operations Services Department estimates approximately 544 hours to prepare for, set <br /> up, and after the event, collect barriers, cones and barricades for the special events in <br /> this staff report. <br /> After calculating the Police personnel costs, at an overtime rate, and the Streets <br /> Division personnel costs at an overtime rate, associated with 2022 special events, the <br /> cost of street closures associated with the events report are approximately $126,108 <br /> ($59,740.09 Police Department; $66,368. Streets Division). These costs are included in <br /> the City's General Fund budget. The City does not recover the costs from the event <br /> organizers. <br />
