BACKGROUND
Tri-Signal Integration, Inc. was selected as the maintenance contractor for the
inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of the City's fire alarm system in FY
2020/21. There are a total of 27 facilities included in this maintenance agreement
equipped with fire alarm panels, pull stations, and sprinkler systems. Per the National
Fire Protection Association (NFPA), monthly, quarterly, and annual testing of the fire
alarm and wet pipe system is required. In 2021, unforeseen repairs were necessary to
several City facilities. These unforeseen repairs along with the other required system
maintenance and testing for the duration of the agreement will exceed the current
amount of the agreement ($150,000).
DISCUSSION
The current agreement with Tri-Signal Integration, Inc. is a three-year agreement with
an option for two one-year extensions for a total not-to-exceed-amount of$150,000.
Due to unforeseen repairs of several facilities' fire systems, including water pumping
stations, sewer lift stations, and the Callippe Preserve Golf Course, an increase to the
agreement is being requested to ensure all City owned facilities and fire stations meet
required communication upgrades by the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
Therefore, staff is estimating that an additional $100,000 would cover these repairs,
continued system maintenance, and any other unforeseen repairs through the term of
the agreement. The total not-to-exceed amount of the agreement will be $250,000. Per
the City's Purchasing policy, any agreement over $100,000 must be approved by City
Council. The increase to the agreement amount will allow compliance with the NFPA
requirements and any necessary repairs.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
VkA3-..\L, Xklk
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Brian Dolan
Director of Operations and Director of Finance Interim City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
