Assistant to the City Manager Hopkins confirmed there are 26 in-store redemption locations certified by CalRecycleand the list is on the City's website. She stated residents can file a complaint to the.State if one of the 26 centers will not redeem their items. She reported enforcement has received no complaints from Pleasanton. She hopes to educate residents ori using Pleasanton's in-store redemption locations because the City does not have a local buyback center. Councilmember Testa reported she went to six different stores in Pleasanton as a test and none of them knew what she was talking about. She endorsed having reverse vending machines in the store parking lots for their practicality. She acknowledged this grant may not be the best source of funding for those machines. She encouraged residents to take their recycling to grocery stores and notify the City if they are unsuccessful in their redemptions. In response to Assistant to the City Manager Hopkins' inquiry, Mayor Brown.confirmed Item 3 is not being continued, simply the discussion on if there is an option to use the funds to incentivize local grocery stores to purchase reverse vending machines. Councilmember Narum moved to approve the Consent Calendar, noting the recusal from Item 4 by Councilmembers Arkin, abstention from Item 8 by Councilmember Balch, and the amendment to Item 2. Councilmember Testa seconded the motion. In response to Councilmember Testa, Councilmember Balch did not state why he is abstaining from voting on Item 8. City Attorney 1.
