1
THE CITY OF
—• ..air" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON.
March 15, 2022
City Attorney
City Clerk
City Manager
TITLE: CONSIDER ADOPTION OF FINDINGS REGARDING PUBLIC HEALTH
RELATED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO SUPPORT CONTINUED
VIRTUAL PUBLIC CITY MEETINGS PER RESOLUTION NO. 21-1249
SUMMARY
City Council, commission and committee meetings are typically open to the public.
However, due to COVID-19, California has declared an emergency and allows for virtual
meetings. While the City is interested in returning to in-person meetings as soon as
practicable, until that can happen for all City legislative and advisory bodies, State law
(AB 361 of 2021) requires the City to make findings regarding the public health
emergency to continue at least some virtual meetings. The Council adopted such
findings on October 5, 2021 by Resolution No. 21-1249, again on November 2 and
December 7, 2021, as well as on January 18 and February 15, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt by minute order the following findings:
1 . City meetings are not able to consistently provide for six feet of separation
between persons due to the small size of many meeting rooms, plus the large
membership of some commissions and committees;
2. Not all City meeting rooms are able to achieve ventilation, filtration and indoor air
quality recommendations.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No affect. Existing staff will continue to facilitate virtual meetings.
Submitted by: Approved by:
, /A ,
aniel Sodergren Jocely wo • Brian Dolan
City Attorney City Clerk Interim City Manager
