Community Resilience & Wellbeing | 58Pleasanton Climate Action Plan 2.0 <br />Community Resilience & Wellbeing <br />Strengthen community resilience and reduce <br />vulnerability to climate change. <br />Community Resilience in Pleasanton <br />Pleasanton is expected to face more extreme weather such as flooding <br />and heat waves, increased water uncertainty, and increased risk from <br />wildfire, especially smoke. These vulnerabilities will stress public <br />infrastructure, water provision, natural systems, and public health. 1 <br />Performance since 2012 <br />Since 2012, Pleasanton has taken the following actions to strengthen <br />community resilience. <br />• 14 businesses participating in the Alameda County Green Business <br />Program. <br />• Hosted dozens of free community events, sustainability lectures, <br />and workshops. <br />• Participated in Sustainability Circles, a comprehensive 6-month <br />peer-learning program that embeds sustainable practices in <br />organizations. <br />1 For more information, please see the Pleasanton Climate Vulnerability Assessment, available on <br />the CAP 2.0 webpage (accessed August 16, 2021). <br />• Provided emergency preparedness training for the community <br />through the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD). <br />• Began using evacuation software ZoneHaven to coordinate <br />efficient evacuation if needed and AC Alert to improve emergency <br />notifications to the community. <br />Community Resilience Goal(s) <br />Prepare for climate and non-climate emergencies and integrate <br />climate considerations across City and community decision-making. <br />Key Performance Indicators (vs. 2017) <br />• Population has access to a cooling center <br />• Increase community preparedness training participationBy <br />2030, 3% of emissions reductions will <br />come from this sector.
