February 1, 2022 Engineering TITLE: APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE TASK AUTHORIZATION WITH PAKPOUR CONSULTING GROUP IN THE AMOUNT OF $36,915 TO COMPLETE THE DESIGN AND PREPARE BIDDABLE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR THE VAL VISTA UNDERDRAIN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, CIP NO. 21457 SUMMARY On July 14, 2021, City staff authorized a task authorization in the amount of$74,480 under the on-call agreement with Pakpour Consulting Group (Pakpour) to provide design services to modify the existing Val Vista Park underdrain system to connect it directly to the sanitary sewer system, as well as prepare plans to repair two existing storm drains serving the park area. During the design, the planned scope of work has increased, necessitating the need for an amendment for additional design services. The additional need involves incorporating a pre-packaged pump station into the project, as well as designing the repair of two more storm drain outfalls. The pre-packaged pump station will increase the reliability of the system and reduce the staff time necessary to operate and maintain the modified underdrain system. The necessity of repairs to the storm drain outfalls was identified during the design process. City staff recommends approval of an amendment to the task authorization with Pakpour Consulting Group to complete the design and prepare biddable construction documents for the not-to- exceed amount of$36,915, increasing the total design cost from $74,480 to $111,395. The original agreement was approved at a staff level, but since the amendment takes the total agreement amount above the $100,000 staff has the authority to approve, the amendment is being presented to City Council with a recommendation for approval. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve an amendment to the task authorization with Pakpour Consulting Group in the not-to-exceed amount of $36,915 to complete the design and prepare biddable construction documents, increasing the total task authorization amount from $74,480 to $111,395. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment to the task authorization. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The current Capital Improvement Program budget includes $1.6 million to fund the design and construction of the Val Vista Underdrain Improvements Project, CIP No. 21457.
