From: -
To: lennifer Haoen
Subject: For official record for Dec. 1 public hearing re: rezoning in Pleasanton - Mission Valley Plaza Santa Rita & Valley
Date: Wednesday, November 24, 2021 10:10:56 PM
I would appreciate it if you put this in the official record and read it at the Dec 1 Meeting.
Thank you!
I would like to voice my strong objection to rezoning the Mission Valley Plaza space for
housing. This is a very bad idea for many reasons.
Small business owners have been in this space, many of them for decades. Many of them
would likely lose their businesses if forced to relocate (and likely could not afford to
relocate)! They would lose their clientele that relies on proximity. This does not make sense.
Alisal elementary school is over impacted and all of the potential residents would feed into
that elementary school.
Having the amenities in the neighborhood makes this community vibrant. These jobs are
filled by local people and serve local people and keep our Pleasanton dollars in Pleasanton.
Places like the Hardware store, the Vet, the Credit Union, these have been there "forever" and
are part of our local pride and necessary for the residents in and around the neighborhood.
One of the prime features of the amenities in that area is that it provides restaurants, pizza,
take away food etc. that is enjoyed at the nearby Orloff park. Neighborhoods walk to these
places and buy donuts at Donut King, family bakery for decades, and take them to the park for
outings, likewise with Garlex Pizza and many of the other restaurants. When Covid hit
restaurants like the Press, Sunshine and Fiesta Taco suffered greatly but managed to keep their
