ACMB is providing their hourly grounds maintenance services and overhead costs at $50/hour, which will provide the City with cost savings when compared with $65/hour for MVMIG, who is the City's current vendor through December 31, 2021. In addition, the CEO of ACMB understands the importance of maintaining the PPC for the community and will provide an enhanced level of maintenance and care when performing the duties outlined in ACMB's Scope of Work (Attachment 2). ACMB will provide burial services and grounds maintenance in the burial site sections at the PPC through December 31 , 2022. Due to the nature of ACMB's services, the cost is determined by the anticipated number of burials annually. The number of burial services in the contract is inflated to account for the unpredictability of their business. Extra work was also included in the ACMB contract but will only be used on days following large storms and utilized on a limited basis. Backhoe rental fees will be charged only if and when the City's backhoe is unavailable for use. CONCLUSION The Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery is a place of history and remembrance. It is a place where our community may gather to share in times of grief and to also celebrate and honor the lives of those buried there. Staff will continue to work diligently to ensure the highest standard of service is maintained at the PPC and continue to examine ways to make it a more fiscally responsible enterprise fund. Dividing the grounds maintenance contract between two specialized companies—one who can focus on grave digging and gravesite maintenance, and the other who can focus on more detailed landscaping and irrigation needs is a step in this direction.
