ATTACHMENT 2 <br /> Option to Also Prohibit Smoking Inside of Units <br /> To also prohibit smoking inside of unit, the following modifications to the adopting <br /> ordinance recitals and text of the Municipal Code would be as follows: <br /> WHEREAS, the public's health is supported and protected by addressing the <br /> health effects of secondhand smoke in multifamily ownership housing by restricting <br /> smoking in enclosed and unenclosed common areas, as well as unenclosed private use <br /> areas of dwelling units. <br /> 9.27.010 Purpose and findings. <br /> The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that almost 50,000 deaths <br /> per year can be attributed to secondhand Smoke. The U.S. Surgeon General advises <br /> that the aerosol from e-cigarettes can potentially expose bystanders to harmful <br /> substances. <br /> There is a public health interest in limiting exposure to secondhand smoke for persons <br /> living in condominiums, townhomes and other buildings with three or more attached <br /> units. - -- - - • - - - • -• - - - - -e - - • - • • e •- • <br /> areas will prevent secondhand smoke exposure. <br /> 9.27.025 Smoking prohibited in units, - - . . - , . . , - • . e - - - - - - , <br /> patios;-porches and common areas. <br /> Smoking is prohibited in: <br /> A. Inside of Units (also defined as the Enclosed Area of a Unit), as well as any Any <br /> exclusive use Unenclosed Area of a Unit, such as, for example: a private <br /> balcony, deck, fenced outdoor area, patio or porch; <br /> B.
