CONCLUSION
In this critical time and amid a national movement for continued police reform, there is a
genuine need and desire to address complex societal issues, including police response
to mental health crisis. The recommendation of the workgroup and City staff as outlined
provides important steps that will enhance City of Pleasanton's interactions with the
community by providing an alternative model of response to those experiencing mental
health crises. Staff recommends implementation of the Mental Health Response
Program as a two-year pilot program to begin January 2022.
Submitted by:
David Swing
Chief of Police
Fis al Review:
l /A
Tina Olson
Finance Director
Approved y:
t -
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
