Gateway Square Shopping Center contains a variety of tenants such as: Chili's, Eddie Papa's, <br /> Hacienda Park Optometry, Huntington Learning Center, Ume Sushi, and Global Village <br /> Montessori School. Other uses in the vicinity of the site include offices, hotels, and other <br /> personal services uses (e.g., financial institutions) with the nearest residential uses being <br /> located to the southwest, across Hopyard Road. <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> Operations <br /> SMA proposes to increase the enrollment of the existing music program and to add two new <br /> programs: a heritage school and a summer choir program. As such, SMA would operate the <br /> following within the existing tenant space: <br /> • SMA - Music School for musical instrument instruction (Year-Round) <br /> • SMA - Heritage School for students in Grades 1-9t"(During School Year) <br /> • SMA - Summer Choir Camp (June —August) <br /> SMA Music School- SMA proposes to expand the enrollment from the current 20 people to 50 <br /> people at one time. It is a choir-focused program and includes one-on-one music instrument <br /> instructions. The music school currently operates year-round from 7:30-10 p.m. on weekdays <br /> and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturdays. The operation hours would remain. <br /> SMA Heritage School— The proposed heritage school program follows the Department of <br /> Education's requirements for a heritage school. The heritage school program includes Chinese <br /> Handwriting, Chinese Drama, Chinese Ancient Poetry, Dramatics and Public-Speaking, Dance <br /> Class, and Music Instrument Practice. Hours of operation are from 2-6:30 p.m. on weekdays <br /> when school is in session. <br /> SMA Summer Choir- The proposed summer choir program would operate week-long camps <br /> during the summer months (June-August), where students would attend either morning or <br /> afternoon sessions. She reiterated that 3520 Dennis Drive <br /> had met their obligation in paying the in-lieu fee.
