Commissioner Morgan stated he looked forward to seeing the site inventory and hoped sites would be sprinkled throughout the City. Ms. Clark stated the goal of appropriate distribution of units around the City. Ms. Clark thanked the Commission for its input and stated the matter would be before the Housing Commission on May 13, 2021, and then to the City Council on May 18, 2021. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW/ACTION/INFORMATION 6. Selection of Sub-Committee Representatives and Alternates for May — December 2021 Ms. Clark provided a brief introduction to the item. Commissioner Allen discussed her experience on the Heritage Tree Board of Appeals and Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee. Commissioner Gaidos expressed interest in the Heritage Tree Board. Commissioner Nibert stated he was available to serve. Commissioner Pace expressed his desire to continue to serve. Commissioner Morgan volunteered for the Heritage Tree Board of Appeals. Chair Brown discussed his service on the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee and importance of the Planning Commission member. Commissioner Morgan stated he would defer to Commissioner Gaidos for the Heritage Tree Board of Appeals. Commissioner Allen moved to elect Commissioner Gaidos as the representative and Commissioner Morgan as the alternate for the Heritage Tree Board of Appeals; no changes were made to the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Committee representative or alternate positions. Reports from Meetings Attended (e.g., Committee, Task Force, etc.) There were no reports from meetings attended. Chair Brown suggested outreach for sites where there might be zoning changes. Commissioner Pace suggested consideration of best practices from other communities. Chair Brown asked staff to clarify the Housing Commission and Planning Commission roles. Ms. Clark stated the Housing Commission focused more on program pieces, such as tax credit, federal and state grant programs. Ms. Wise discussed their library of best practices which would be shared with the Commission. Chair Brown discussed the goal to increase production of housing. Chair Brown stated the Communication Plan was good and suggested providing notice of potential rezoning. Commissioner Nibert concurred that the Communication Plan was good. He asked about the need for additional meetings and outreach. Ms. Clark stated there was contingency included in the budget for increased meetings and outreach. Commissioner Pace asked the most successful ways to engage the public in prior cycles. Ms. Clark discussed prior public outreach efforts and increase use of social media.
