A total of five <br />bids were received, ranging from the low bid amount of $446,000 from VSS <br />International, Inc. to $620,620. The low bid is 21 percent lower than the Engineer's <br />Estimate of $570,000 (see Attachment 3). Past work performed by VSS International <br />Inc. was verified to be satisfactory. Staff recommends award of the construction contract <br />to the lowest bidder, VSS International, Inc. <br />Consultant/Specialty Services: <br />Consulting testing services will be provided under the City's existing on-call materials <br />testing contracts. The testing services are required to provide specialty testing of the <br />material and placement of the slurry seal in conformance with the City's Quality <br />Assurance Program for slurry seal. The testing is estimated to cost $15,000. <br />Budaet <br />This annual project is funded as part of the 2021/22 CIP, with a programmed amount of <br />$625,000. The anticipated expenditures total $528,461, including $82,461 for <br />construction contingency, testing services and advertising fee. Funding and anticipated <br />project expenditures are detailed in Attachment 1. <br />Schedule <br />The start of construction will begin in August after completion of the preparatory base <br />repair and crack sealing work that is part of the upcoming Annual Street Resurfacing <br />CIP.
