<br /> ES.1 Purpose
<br /> This Basis of Design Report(BODR)establishes the scope of the PFAS Treatment and Well
<br /> Rehabilitation Project(Project)and serves as the basis for final design.
<br /> ES.2 Project Goals
<br /> The overall goal of the Project is to rehabilitate Wells 5,6, and 8 and implement PEAS treatment
<br /> to extend their useful life as reliable,locally controlled,sources of water for the City of
<br /> Pleasanton(City). Figure 1 shows a general vicinity map of Wells 5, 6 and 8.
<br /> The City has also identified the following specific Project goals:
<br /> 1. Implement a PFAS treatment system for Wells 5,6 and 8 that can reduce PEAS
<br /> concentrations to meet the City's low treatment goal,which is defined as the consumer
<br /> confidence report detection levels listed in the current Division of Drinking Water(DDW)
<br /> PFAS order(DW 2020-003-DDW).
<br /> 2. Extend the useful life of Wells 5,6 and 8 facilities to 30 years to be comparable to the
<br /> useful life of the PEAS treatment facility.
<br /> 3. Plan the PEAS treatment facility to accommodate expansion for future water treatment
<br /> regulations.
