Santa Rita Road is ranked as
the #2 corridor in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan and
this project will design the bicycle and pedestrian
improvements on Santa Rita Road. These improvements
may include buffered and protected bike lanes, protected
intersections, enhanced crossings, pathway widening, way
finding and directional signage, recommendations for parking
removal and other bicycle and pedestrian related
improvements.
CDD Yes C
Planned Expected to begin after completion of the West Las
Positas Boulevard Bike corridor.
With the completion of the City's 2020 overlay project,
the majority of Santa Rita Road now has bike lanes.
This project will expand upon the existing bike lanes to
evaluate the ability to convert the bike lanes to a more
comfortable "protected bike lanes."
The project will also address the remaining segments
along Santa Rita Road that do not have bike lanes
(adjacent to Amador Park and between Rosewood Drive
and Pimlico Drive).
BPTC Priority #2
Design Foothill Road Bicycle and
Pedestrian Improvements
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan has developed a
prioritized list of corridors to be completed with an "all users
and abilities" design concept. Foothill Road is ranked as the
#3 corridor in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan.
Preliminary design plans have been developed and this
project will refine the design and construct some of the
improvements identified in the plan. This project would be
linked to the development of the Merritt property when
project moves forward.
CDD Yes C
Underway Design is complete – implementation of the plan to
occur with development and roadway resurfacing
projects.
Several design elements have been implemented from
the plan. Foothill Road from Stoneridge Drive to Canyon
Way has been improved according to the Foothill
Corridor Plan. Northbound Foothill Road just north of
Highland Oaks has been improved placing a new ramp
for northbound bicyclists to use the sidewalk through the
narrow uphill section.
X X
Enhanced Way Finding Signage for
parallel routes
The Pedestrian, Bicycle and Trails Master Plan identifies
several residential routes that run parallel to the City’s arterial
streets that could be used as alternative bike routes, and
could be opportunity sites for new signage to provide
directional routing for those bicyclists wanting to use local
roadways instead of arterial roadways to complete their trips.
CDD Yes C
New NEW
BPTC Priority #3
Centennial and Arroyo Mocho Surface
improvements
The City has a comprehensive network of water agency
maintenance roads running throughout the City adjacent to
the arroyos and canals. The majority of these trails are
owned by Zone 7. The City has an agreement with Zone 7
that allows the public to access these maintenance roads to
be used as part of the City’s trail system. This project would
prioritize the conversion from standard gravel surface to
asphalt-paved riding surfaces along the Centennial Trail and
the Arroyo Mocho Trail.
CDD Yes D
New NEW
BPTC Priority #4
Traffic Circulation (continued)
Implement improved traffic circulation measures
