The City shall pay to the Union the sum of nineteen dollars and fifty cents($19.50), up to a maximum of <br /> twenty-three dollars ($23.00) towards the monthly premium for each bargaining unit employee enrolled <br /> in the Union's long-term disability plan. Said payments shall be made in arrears monthly. Should the <br /> monthly premium for the Union's long-term disability plan drop below fifteen dollars($15.00)per month, <br /> the dollar difference shall be added one time to the employee's rate of pay. <br /> 16.8 Extended Benefits <br /> The City will consider voluntary proposals from the Union's membership to utilize their leave and medical <br /> benefits to extend the leave and medical benefits for employees on protracted medical leave. <br /> 16.9 Employee Assistance Program <br /> The City shall provide an Employee Assistance Program for employees covered by this MOU. <br /> Section 17. Retirement <br /> The City shall continue contracting with the California Public Employees Retirement System (Ca1PERS) <br /> to provide retirement benefits for all bargaining unit employees. <br /> 17.1 Retirement Plans and Employee Contributions <br /> A. Employees hired before December 22,2012 (Tier 1 Classic) <br /> Employees hired prior to December 22, 2012 are provided the Ca1PERS 3% @ 50 local <br /> safety plan with the 12-month final compensation period. Such employees shall contribute <br /> 9.0% of their CaIPERS reportable compensation towards the employee share and an <br /> additional 3.0% of their CaIPERS reportable compensation towards the employer share <br /> (12%total employee contribution) for the CaIPERS 3%@ 50 local safety plan. <br /> Effective July 11, 2020, Tier 1 Classic employees shall contribute an additional one-half <br /> percent (0.5%) of their CaIPERS reportable compensation toward the employer share <br /> (12.5%total employee contribution) for the Ca1PERS 3% @ 50 local safety plan. <br /> B. Employees hired on or after December 22, 2012 (Tier 2 Classic) <br /> Employees hired on or after December 22,2012 and before January 1,2013,and employees <br /> hired on or after January 1, 2013 who are otherwise"classic"employees, are provided the <br /> Ca1PERS 3% @ 55 local safety plan with the 36-month final compensation period. Such <br /> employees shall contribute 9.0% of their CaIPERS reportable compensation towards the <br /> employee share and an additional 3.0%of their CaIPERS reportable compensation towards <br /> the employer share (12% total employee contribution) for the Ca1PERS 3% @ 55 local <br /> safety plan. <br /> Effective July 11, 2020, Tier 2 Classic employees shall contribute an additional one-half <br /> percent (0.5%) of their Ca1PERS reportable compensation toward the employer share <br /> (12.5%total employee contribution)for the CaIPERS 3% @ 55 local safety plan. <br /> 29 <br />
