for the purpose of protecting against backflow of water <br /> from the Consumer's Premises into the Water System. <br /> <br /> 4. When a Consumer receiving service at the <br /> Water System main or service connection must by means of <br /> a pump of any kind elevate or increase the pressure of the <br /> Water received, the pump shall not be attached to any pipe <br /> directly connected to the main or service pipe. Such pump- <br /> ing or boosting of pressure shall be done from a sump, cis- <br /> tern or storage tank which may be served by but not directly <br /> connected with the Water System distribution facilities. <br /> <br /> 5. Quick closing or opening valves shall not <br /> <br />be installed on any Consumer's pipes which are directly <br />attached to the Water System mains or service pipes. A <br />Consumer whose operation requires the use of a quick open- <br />ing or closing valve must operate such device from a tank, <br />cistern, sump or other facility which may be served by but <br />not directly connected with the Water System distribution <br />mains or service pipes. <br /> <br /> 6. The City will not be responsible for any loss <br />or damage caused by any negligence or unlawful act of any <br />Consumer or any other person in installing, maintaining, <br />supplying or using any appliances, facilities or equipment <br />for which Water or Water service is furnished by the City. <br />Each Consumer shall be held responsible for damage to the <br />City's meters and other property comprising any part of the <br />Water System resulting from use or operation of any appli- <br />ances or facilities on such Consumer's Premises, including, <br />without limiting the generality of the foregoing, damage <br />caused by steam, hot water or chemicals. <br /> <br /> <br />
