5 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> L£AS4NTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> December 15, 2020 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ENGEO <br /> INCORPORATED WITH A BUDGET OF $116,907 FOR GEOLOGIC <br /> HAZARD ABATEMENT DISTRICT OBSERVATION, GIS MAPPING, AND <br /> IDENTIFYING MAINTENANCE AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS <br /> NECESSARY FOR SLOPE STABILITY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Staff recommends approval of a professional services agreement with ENGEO <br /> Incorporated for Geologic Hazard Abatement District (GHAD) observation, GIS <br /> mapping, and recommendation services. The services will begin on January 1, 2021 <br /> (FY 2020-21), and extend until June 30, 2025 (FY 2024-25), a four-and-one-half-year <br /> term. The anticipated budget of$116,907 includes expenditures funded from property <br /> assessments collected within each of the four GHADs that operate within the City. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a four-and-one-half-year <br /> professional services agreement with ENGEO Incorporated in the amount of <br /> $106,279. <br /> 2. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br /> order(s) for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $10,628 (approximately 10 percent <br /> of the contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this $106,279 contract has been included in the expenditure budget for <br /> each GHAD. Any needed expenditure from the $10,628 contingency will come from <br /> GHAD reserves. <br /> The City contributes funding as owner of two parcels within the Laurel Creek Estates <br /> District (total of$800), one parcel within the Moller Ranch District ($122), and one <br /> parcel within the Oak Tree Farm District ($328). These parcels contain public facilities, <br /> such as water tanks and pump stations, and are assessed the same amount as other <br /> properties. <br /> The expenditure budgets for each GHAD were approved by the City Council acting as <br /> the GHAD Board of Directors on June 16, 2020. <br />
