APPROVED AS TO FORM <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE N0. 542 <br /> <br /> AMENDING SECTIONS l(b) and 2(a) OF ORDINANCE 426, <br /> DEALING WITH THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF AND SELECTION <br /> OF CHAIRMAN FROM PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS, <br /> SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE 316 DEALING WITH THE TERMS <br /> OF OFFICE OF PLANNING COMMISSIONERS, AND SECTION <br /> OF ORDINANCE N0. 243, DEALING WITH THE SELECTION <br /> OF A CHAIRMAN OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS ~' <br /> <br /> I. <br /> <br /> Section 1: Section 1 (b) of Ordinance 426, dealing with the <br />terms of office of members of the Parks and Recreation Commission, <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section l(b). Members of the Commission shall be qualified <br /> electors and serve without compensation for <br /> a period of four years. The first Commis- <br /> sion to be appointed shall, at its first <br /> meeting, so classify its members by lot <br /> that two shall serve for one year; two shall <br /> serve for two years; and one shall serve fop <br /> three years. At the expiration of each of <br /> the terms so provided for, a successor shall <br /> be appointed by the City Council for a term <br /> of four years ." <br /> <br /> Section 2. Section 2(a) of Ordinance 426, dealing with the <br />selection of a Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission, is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 2(a) Within thirty (30) days after appointment, <br /> members of the Commission shall meet in <br /> regular session and elect a Chairman and a <br /> Vice-Chairman. Their duties shall respec- <br /> tively be such as are usually carried out by <br /> such officers. The offices of Chairman and <br /> Vice-Chairman shall be rotated on an annual <br /> basis in such a way that no member of the <br /> Commission serving as either Chairman or <br /> Vice-Chairman may succeed himself." <br /> <br /> <br />
