APPROVED AS TO FORM CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE N0. 542 AMENDING SECTIONS l(b) and 2(a) OF ORDINANCE 426, DEALING WITH THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF AND SELECTION OF CHAIRMAN FROM PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS, SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE 316 DEALING WITH THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF PLANNING COMMISSIONERS, AND SECTION OF ORDINANCE N0. 243, DEALING WITH THE SELECTION OF A CHAIRMAN OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS ~' I. Section 1: Section 1 (b) of Ordinance 426, dealing with the terms of office of members of the Parks and Recreation Commission, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section l(b). Members of the Commission shall be qualified electors and serve without compensation for a period of four years. The first Commis- sion to be appointed shall, at its first meeting, so classify its members by lot that two shall serve for one year; two shall serve for two years; and one shall serve fop three years. At the expiration of each of the terms so provided for, a successor shall be appointed by the City Council for a term of four years ." Section 2. Section 2(a) of Ordinance 426, dealing with the selection of a Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2(a) Within thirty (30) days after appointment, members of the Commission shall meet in regular session and elect a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman. Their duties shall respec- tively be such as are usually carried out by such officers. The offices of Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall be rotated on an annual basis in such a way that no member of the Commission serving as either Chairman or Vice-Chairman may succeed himself."
