3 <br /> THE CI 'TY <br /> ;.�� : '"` -i-I "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON <br /> December 1, 2020 <br /> City Manager <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF <br /> APPLICATION TO CALRECYCLE FOR BEVERAGE CONTAINER <br /> RECYCLING CITY/COUNTY PAYMENT PROGRAM AND RELATED <br /> AUTHORIZATION <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The CalRecycle's beverage container recycling program goal is to reach and maintain <br /> an 80 percent recycling rate for all California Refund Value (CRV) beverage containers - <br /> aluminum, glass, plastic and bi-metal. Projects implemented by cities and counties <br /> assist in reaching and maintaining this goal. <br /> Pursuant to Public Resources Code (PRC) section 14581(a)(3)(A) of the California <br /> Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, the Department of Resources <br /> Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) is distributing $10,500,000 through the <br /> City/County Payment Program to eligible cities and counties specifically for beverage <br /> container recycling and litter cleanup activities. <br /> Each city is eligible to receive $5,000 annually or an amount calculated by CalRecycle, <br /> on a per capita basis, whichever is greater. The City of Pleasanton's portion is $19,780. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager or designated <br /> staff to submit an application for the CalRecycle City/County Payment Program Fiscal <br /> Year 2020/21 funding cycle. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> If the application is successful, the total allocation will be $19,780 that will be received in <br /> April 2021. <br />
