Keith Flynn, Pleasanton Hills Homeowners Association, expressed concern regarding potential noise in the intersection and a potential increase in traffic. He requested the Pleasanton Hills HOA engage in dialogue so their concerns can be raised. Senior Civil Engineer Nelkie explained dialogue will be handled during the public outreach components. In response to Vice Mayor Narum's inquiry, Traffic Engineer Tassano agreed completion of Highway 84 will give some alleviation on Bernal Avenue. Vice Mayor Narum closed public comment. Councilmember Pentin expressed his support for Alternative 1 and feels it is the best use of the intersection. In response to Councilmember Brown's inquiry, Traffic Engineer Tassano explained to put a bike lane in on First Street the left turn lane or the parking would need to be removed and would require public input. Senior Civil Engineer Nelkie further explained all the bicycle elements will be developed together regardless of which project moves first. Vice Mayor Narum supports Alternative 1 and the signage plan. MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Brown to approve amendment to agreement with HMH Engineers in the amount of $231,200 to complete the design and prepare biddable construction documents from the 35 percent design for a second westbound left-turn lane on Bernal Avenue at First Street and Sunol Boulevard, CIP No. 17556.
