authorized the Director of Engineering to approve change orders up to the project
contingency amount of$35,000.
DISCUSSION
Construction began on February 24, 2020. In March, construction was paused due to
the County's Covid-19 Shelter-in-Place Order. Construction resumed after the Shelter-
in-Place order restrictions were eased in May and was finally completed in September
2020. Three change orders were issued on the project for additional work requested by
the City during construction. The first change order was for $20,471 to remove and
replace the planting and irrigation surrounding the bocce courts and to re-route the
electrical line, which was discovered to conflict with the proposed footing for the shade
structure. The second change order was for $1,595 to clean out the existing storage
shed and off-haul equipment and materials that were no longer needed for the bocce
ball courts. The third change order was for $2,230 to provide a 90-day maintenance
period for the new planting and irrigation. The fourth change order was for $6,642 to
provide additional preparation of the courts, including watering the courts for approx. 30
minutes per court 1-2 times a day for 2-3 weeks, compacting the surfacing, and
brooming the courts. The change order work totaled $30,938, increasing the total
construction contract amount to $365,633.
The project was completed on schedule under the amount budgeted and is ready for
acceptance. Staff recommends the remaining budget balance of$32,641 be returned to
the General Fund - Capital Improvement Program Reserve.
Submitted by: Fisc I Review: Approved
'14(ty ,
(il/—
Stephen irkpatrick Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
