CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

ORDINANCE NO. 527

AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 478 (WATER SERVICE
RATES) REDUCING BASIC MINIMUM WATER RATE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
I.

Ordinance No. 478 at Section IV (Water Rates and Charges),
Paragraph B is hereby amended to read as follows:

"B. Rates Inside City Limits

1. Applicability
This subsection shall be applicable to all water
supplied by the Water System.

2. Rates Per Meter
Per Month

First 1000 cubic feet, or less $4.10

Next 4000 cubic feet,
per 100 cubic feet .15

Over 5000 cubic feet, .12"
per 100 cubic feet

II.

This ordinance was adopted November 11, 1968, as an urgency
measure, and as such, shall become effective from and after the
date of its adoption, November 11, 1968. The basis for the
adoption of this ordinance as an urgency measure is that its
immediate effectiveness is essential to the preservation of
the public peace, health and safety of the City of Pleasanton
and of the residents of the City of Pleasanton in that this
ordinance had been adopted but not published pursuant to
#36933 of the Government Code on July 1, 1968, and reductions
in water rates made pursuant thereto. In order to avoid, so
far as is possible, challenges, legal or otherwise, to the
ordinance which would be disruptive of the public peace and
involve needless and unwarranted expenditures of public funds
to defend against, the immediate adoption of this ordinance
with retroactive effect is necessary.

III.

This ordinance was adopted as an urgency measure on November 11,
1968, and shall become effective immediately upon its adoption;
its effectiveness, however, relating retroactively back to
August 1, 1968, the date upon which the prior adopted water
rate reduction ordinance would have become effective but for the
failure to publish, pursuant to which water rate reductions were
