Attachment 1
The SBDC hosts COVID-19 Updates and Live Q&A meetings for organizations and
businesses each week to receive updates from the US Small Business Administration's
regional office in San Francisco on the federal relief programs. Relevant updates are
provided on the COVID-19 Business Support webpage and in the COVID-19 Business
Resources Newsletter.
Business Support Fund
Economic Development staff created a webpage and online application portal link for
businesses to apply for the City loan, a tutorial on how to apply, Frequently Asked Questions,
and overview of the fund program.
www.cityofpleasantonca.qov/eddsupportfund
As an example of one campaign to promote the loan program, testimonial videos were created
featuring two loan recipients: JJ's Threading Salon and Creative Learners Child Care. The initial
video with Shipra Channon, owner of JJ's Threading Salon, is available on the Business
Support webpage and was shared in the June 25 newsletter, posted on the webpage and
inPleasanton.com's social media platforms. The video was viewed on Facebook over 3,800
times and reached over 5,900 people on Instagram.
ems _,
„ txs
Sao q.c9mov __.tM
tb
t
Transient Occupancy Tax Penalties Waiver
Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) quarterly payments were due on March 31, 2020 for the
January-February-March quarter, and June 30, 2020 for the April-May-June quarter
respectively. To allow the hotels to utilize the collected funds for near-term operating costs and
employee retention due to loss of revenues, this program element suspended fines, penalties
and interest for TOT payments as imposed by the Pleasanton Municipal Code. Both quarterly
payments were due in full to the City on July 31, 2020.
As Pleasanton is a city partner along with Danville, Dublin and Livermore in administering the
Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District assessment that funds Visit Tri-Valley, to be
similarly in alignment regarding TOT payment collection, each of the four jurisdictions waived
associated penalties and allowed the deferral of TOT payments as noted. Four Pleasanton
hotels provided a written request for the waiver to Pleasanton's Director of Finance.
5
