13
THE CITY OF
L£S4NTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PAugust 18, 2020
Operations Services
TITLE: APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF TWO ADDITIONAL UVD ROBOTS
FROM SNAP SOLUTIONS, INC. FOR FACILITY DISINFECTION DUE
TO COVID-19 AND APPROVE THE PURCHASE ORDER IN THE
AMOUNT OF $328,044
SUMMARY
To combat the COVID-19 virus, staff is recommending the purchase of enhanced facility
disinfection technology in addition to the City's custodial contract services. Staff
researched other options for facility cleaning and disinfection in response to COVID-19
and found that Pleasanton based Snap Solutions, Inc., has released new autonomous
UVD Robots that use UV-C light to inactivate any pathogens that remain within
contaminated spaces. This new technology is only available through Snap Solutions,
Inc., and is currently being used in hospital settings in Europe and being considered for
use in airports and laboratories for facility disinfection. Due to the long lead time and
high demand of the units, the City has purchased one UVD Robot in the amount of
$99,635.25 and staff is recommending that the City purchase two additional UVD
Robots for City facility disinfection.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the purchase of two additional UVD Robots and authorize the City Manager to
execute a Purchase Order in the amount of$328,044, for the total purchase of three
UVD Robots from Snap Solutions, Inc.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
This purchase will be funded through the Capital Improvement Project budget approved
by City Council on August 4, 2020, with funds allocated for response measures related
to COVID-19.
