IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CiTY OF PLEASANTON STATE OF CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. a$7 AN O~DINAN~E~£d~ENDING ORDINANCE NO. 309 (ZONING ORDINANCE) PROVIDING }'OR SIDEYARD, FRONT AND REAR YARD SETBACKS IN ZONES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF FALL-OUT AND BLAST SHELTERS. The City Council of the City of Pleasanton does hereby ordain as follows: SZC~ION._i, ArTicle 18.700 of Ordinance No~ 309 (Exceptions and Modifications of the Zoning Ordinance) adopted April 25, 1960, is hereby amended to read as follows: "18.700. Fa%lout .and Bla$~ she~.~er~. Subject to the provisions below ~nd in the interest of civil defense, fallout and blast shelters'are permitted as assessory uses in the R-1 district~ and may be located as a conditional use in all oThe~ districts~ "18.710, Zonin~ regulations for ~he above-mentioned districts shall not apply to such fallout and blast shelters; and in lieu Thereof, the followinf provisions and conditions shall be required: All shelters constructed within the front yard setback must be undergPound with no chan~e in the existing grade. ~o setback is required for the PrOtrusions from shelters constructed within the fr~Dnt yard se%back must nalnta~n a 5 foot setback aad may not protrude above 30 inches in height f~om the existing ~rade. ~ Shelters constructed within the rear yard may be either above or below ground. An above ground Shelter is one where the existin~ grade of the yard is changed in any manner~ d. Below ground shelters constructed within the ~eam ~ard ne~ not provide for setbacks for either the structura or protrusions therefrom. eo ~boYe ~round shelters constructed within the rear yard must maintain a 5 foot setback for the structure. f. ~t~usions from above ~round shelters constructed /~!%~in the rear yard may not protrude above ~ fe~t i'~i.~ei~ht from the existinR grade.
