CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 04-013 RESOLUTION APPROVING PARTIAL STREET CLOSURES FOR THE EXISTING VINEYARD AVENUE WHEREAS, the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan specifies that the existing Vineyard Avenue shall be converted to a trail once traffic is shifted onto the new, realigned Vineyard Avenue; and WHEREAS, traffic is anticipated to be shifted onto the maligned road in the summer of 2004; and WHEREAS, the existing roadway will still be needed to provide interim access to existing, developed properties until these properties can be linked to proposed, new subdivision streets; and WHEREAS, the property owners have requested partial closures of the existing Vineyard Avenue to avoid nuisances associated with the rural-standard roadway becoming a lightly traveled roadway; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that closing two sections of roadway not needed for vehicular traffic will avoid potential nuisances and avoid through-traffic use of a substandard street. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council hereby finds that the two sections of exist'mgVineyard Avenue shown in Exhibit 1 will no longer be needed for vehicular traffic once traffic is shifted onto the new, realigned Vineyard Avenue. Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes and directs the Director of Public Works to install gates as shown in Exhibit 1 to effect the partial street closures; said gates shall provide access to emergency vehicles and to utilities with infrastructure located within the closed street segments.
