CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 04-013 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING PARTIAL STREET CLOSURES <br /> FOR THE EXISTING VINEYARD AVENUE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan specifies that the existing <br />Vineyard Avenue shall be converted to a trail once traffic is shifted onto the <br />new, realigned Vineyard Avenue; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, traffic is anticipated to be shifted onto the maligned road in the summer of <br /> 2004; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the existing roadway will still be needed to provide interim access to <br />existing, developed properties until these properties can be linked to <br />proposed, new subdivision streets; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the property owners have requested partial closures of the existing <br />Vineyard Avenue to avoid nuisances associated with the rural-standard <br />roadway becoming a lightly traveled roadway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council has determined that closing two sections of roadway not <br />needed for vehicular traffic will avoid potential nuisances and avoid <br />through-traffic use of a substandard street. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />The City Council hereby finds that the two sections of exist'mgVineyard <br />Avenue shown in Exhibit 1 will no longer be needed for vehicular traffic <br />once traffic is shifted onto the new, realigned Vineyard Avenue. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />The City Council hereby authorizes and directs the Director of Public <br />Works to install gates as shown in Exhibit 1 to effect the partial street <br />closures; said gates shall provide access to emergency vehicles and to <br />utilities with infrastructure located within the closed street segments. <br /> <br /> <br />
