• Coordination with Zone 7 — Staff is working with Zone 7 to determine if water
supply from Well 5 can be temporarily offset by additional supply from Zone 7
turnouts. Staff has provided preliminary estimates of this additional demand to
Zone 7 and is looking to conduct operational tests towards the end of May to
determine feasibility.
• Commission Turnout 2 — Turnout 2 has not be operational for many years since it
does not provide significant water supply benefits to the City's distribution system
due to hydraulic limitations. However, staff plans to commission this turnout for
the summer to maximize supply that can be received from Zone 7.
• City Distribution Improvements Near Turnout 3 and 5 — Staff is accelerating
select rehabilitation projects within the City's distribution system to improve
hydraulics and take better advantage of potential Zone 7 spare supply capacity at
Turnout 3 and 5.
• Water Conservation —Addressing this issue from the customer demand end via
conservation can also help by reducing the additional supply needed from Zone 7
turnouts. Staff is continuing to be active with its water conservation messaging
and programs to dampen peaking of demand during the summer months.
Submitted by: Fiscal eview: Approved by:
/K.A
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson ialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
