THE CITY OF
27
NI=
"a CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON.
June 2, 2020
Operations Services
TITLE: RATIFY PURCHASE ODER WITH PUMP REPAIR SERVICES IN THE
AMOUNT OF $101,825 FOR REPAIR OF WELL 5 PUMP
SUMMARY
The City's Well 5 has been out of service since January 30, 2020 due to operational
issues with the pump. Preliminary investigations determined that failure of components
within the motor were the primary cause of the operational issues. During the summer
months, the City typically needs two of its three groundwater wells in service to meet
customer demand. With Well 8 currently reserved only for emergency use due to
detection of PFAS chemicals above recommended action levels, it is critical that Well 5
be brought back into service as soon as possible. The estimated lead time for repair is
8-10 weeks, so the City Manager approved an emergency sole source purchase order
to procure the motor/pump with Pump Repair Service on April 29, 2020.
This purchase order with Pump Repair Services (original supplier of Well 5 pump) in the
amount of $101,825 is to repair the existing pump and assist the City with its installation
and commissioning. It is anticipated that the Well 5 pump can be repaired by the end of
June 2020 and brought online by mid July 2020.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council ratify the purchase order with Pump Repair
Services in the amount of $101,825 for repair of Well 5 pump.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The purchase order with Pump Repair Services for $101,825 will be funded out of the
Water Repair and Replacement Fund.
