City of Pleasanton

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Pleasanton City Council will hold a virtual public hearing on May 19, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. The
purpose of the public hearing is to review and receive comments from the City Council and the public
regarding the submission of the FY 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and FY 2019-2020 Annual Action
Plan for the City of Pleasanton’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) activity to the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Proposed FY 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan, which will update the existing FY 2015-2019
Consolidated Plan, identifies the City’s housing and community development needs and the strategies
to address these needs using CDBG funds. The Proposed FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan describes
the projects to be funded with CDBG funds in the 2020-2021 fiscal year in order to implement the
Consolidated Plan housing and community development strategies.

The City has been awarded $342,214 in CDBG funds for fiscal year 2020-2021 covering July 1, 2020
through June 30, 2021. These funds will be used to carry out the housing and community development
activities in the Annual Action Plan.

Public Review
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, HUD has provided a waiver for the CDBG program and the Consolidated
Plan requirements for public review. HUD has approved the City’s waiver request to shorten the public
comment period from 30 days to 5 days and to allow the virtual meetings in lieu of in-person public
hearings in order to comply with national and local social gathering restrictions.

The 5-day comment period will begin on May 11, 2020 and will end on May 15, 2020 at 5pm.

The Draft FY 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan is available for review
on the City’s website at: https://www.cityofpleasantonca.gov/resident/housing/default.asp

Comments or inquiries may be submitted to Steve Hernandez, Housing Manager, at (925) 931-5007, or by
e-mail to email@example.com.

DATED: May 5, 2020

_______________________
Karen Diaz, City Clerk
On March 3, 2020 Governor Newsom proclaimed a State of Emergency as a result of the COVID-19
pandemic and subsequently issued Executive Order N-29-20 suspending provisions of the Brown
Act allowing meetings via teleconferencing and members of the public to observe and offer
comments telephonically or electronically.
