or walk to the bus station, people are dependent upon a safe, reliable local transportation network; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, modernizing the local street and road system provides well-paying <br /> construction jobs and boosts local economies; and <br /> WHEREAS, the local street and road system is also critical for farm to market needs, <br /> interconnectivity, multimodal needs, and commerce; and <br /> WHEREAS, police, fire, and emergency medical services all need safe reliable roads to <br /> react quickly to emergency calls and a few minutes of delay can be a matter of life and death; and <br /> WHEREAS, maintaining and preserving the local street and road system in good condition <br /> will reduce drive times and traffic congestion, improve bicycle safety, and make the pedestrian <br /> experience safer and more appealing, leading to reduced vehicle emissions helping the State <br /> achieve its air quality and greenhouse gas emissions reductions goals; and <br /> WHEREAS, restoring roads before they fail also reduces construction time which results <br /> in less air pollution from heavy equipment and less water pollution from site run-off; and <br /> WHEREAS, the SB-1 project list and overall investment in our local streets and roads <br /> infrastructure with a focus on basic maintenance and safety, investing in complete streets <br /> infrastructure, and using cutting-edge technology, materials and practices, will have significant <br /> positive co-benefits statewide. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 2. Amends the Streets CIP budget for Fiscal Year 2020/21, incorporating <br /> the following list of projects planned to be funded with Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation <br /> Account revenues: <br /> Annual Resurfacing and Reconstruction of Various Streets, CIP No. 21503: The project <br /> will resurface 1.4 million square feet of various streets throughout the City during the <br /> summer of 2021, including: Arbor Drive from Mataro Court to Red Feather Road; Angela <br /> Street from First Street to Mirador Drive; Crellin Road from Touriga Drive to Grey Eagle <br /> Court; Hearst Drive from Bernal Avenue to Concord Street; Cabernet Court; Mirador <br /> Drive from Abbie Street to Bernal Avenue; Linda Way from Neal Street to Bonita <br /> Avenue; Del Sol Avenue from Entrada Drive to end; Neal Place from Mirador Drive to <br /> end; Lapis Lane from Crystal Lane to end; Crystal Lane from Independence Drive to <br /> Lapis Lane; Independence Drive from Bernal Avenue to end; Sunol Boulevard from <br /> Bernal Avenue to Valley Avenue; Black Avenue from Camino Brazos to Hansen Drive; <br /> Paseo Santa Cruz from Via De Los Cerros to Valley Avenue; Camino Segura from Corte <br /> Fuego to Via De Los Cerros; Corte Del Mar; Corte Santiago; Corte Del Ray; Corte <br /> Munras; Corte Nina; Corte Rosa; Corte Pacifica; Corte Santa Maria; Corte Madrid; <br /> Paseo Santa Maria from Paseo Granada to Calle De La Loma; Camino Casa Buena <br /> from Via De Los Cerros to Paseo Granada; Paseo Santa Cruz from Valle Avenue to <br /> Corte Ponderosa; Parkside Drive from Hopyard Road to Melanie Circle (west); Arthur <br /> Drive from Hopyard Road to Parkside Drive. <br /> The project will be completed by fall 2021. The resurfacing treatments will extend the <br /> useful life of the treated roadway by an additional 10-to-15 years. <br />
