It has worked. Today,30%of our Pleasanton students have used e-cigarettes and almost 80% believe that vaping devices are easy to obtain (California Healthy Kids Survey). We must address the problem in our own backyards.We cannot leave our children to fight this battle on their own. As a mom of three young children in Pleasanton (ages 5, 6, and 8), I am keenly aware that policy decisions enacted today will have a direct impact on my kids. For this reason, I wanted to voice my support for the the following Youth Commission proposed actions: 1. Prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products 2. Prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes and related paraphernalia 3. Restrict the sale of tobacco products within 1,000 feet of public schools, public parks, and public recreation facilities [with pre- existing tobacco shops being allowed to remain as legal non-conforming uses] 5.
