THE CITY OF <br /> pLEASANTON. <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> INVESTMENT ACTIVITY SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS <br /> AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2020 <br /> SUMMARY: <br /> Primary City Managed Investment Portfolio <br /> The City of Pleasanton General investment portfolio increased by $15,778,978 <br /> during the quarter September 30, 2019 to December 31,2019, from $195,271,132 <br /> on September 30, 2019 to $211,050,110 on December 31 , 2019. The City <br /> receives two significant property tax installments in April and December. These <br /> installments are invested in securities or deposited into the Local Agency <br /> Investment Fund (LAIF) when received. In December 2019 the City received a <br /> property tax instalment in the amount of$34,864,264, some of which remained in <br /> the City's general bank account. For the quarter ending December 31, 2019, the <br /> fiscal year to date effective rate of return on the portfolio was 2.38%. The average <br /> days to maturity (ADM) increased from 844 days on September 30, 2019 to 946 <br /> days on December 31 , 2019. <br /> As described in this report, the City's investment in the LAIF increased to $36.0 <br /> million from $15.0 million mainly due to the property tax installment being <br /> deposited into LAIF until new investments are purchased. The quarterly LAIF <br /> interest rate was 2.11% with ADM of 226 days. During the quarter approximately <br /> $54.3 million in securities matured or were called, which the City either used to <br /> fund operating costs or reinvest into Agencies and Corporates at the market rate. <br /> The yields on the newly added investments ranged from 1.85% to 2.18%. As of <br /> December 31, 2019, approximately 65.1% of the total portfolio consisted of U.S <br /> Treasuries and agency securities, while the LAIF investment was 17.06% of the <br /> portfolio. Corporate notes accounted for 17% of the portfolio. <br /> • Fair Market Value of total portfolio - $211,050,110 <br /> • Effective rate of return — 2.38% <br /> • Weighted average days to maturity — 946 days <br /> • Fiscal year-to-date net interest earnings — $2,362,855 <br />
