MEETING SUMMARY Location: Orloff Park, Pleasanton, CA Date: October 5, 2019 Project: Orloff Park Playground Renovations Subject: Public Outreach Meeting Attendees: City (Matthew Gruber, Brandon Stewart, Sarah Hosterman) ATTACHMENT 3 Below is a summary of the comments received from residents at the public outreach meeting for the proposed playground renovations at Orloff Park held on Saturday October 5, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 am. There were approximately 40 members of the public present at the event, with about 1/3 to 1/2 of the participants being children. Concept boards showing the playground options and components were presented during the event. Participants voted on their favorite playground components by placing stickers on the boards. Below is a summary of comments heard and favorite aspects of the playground concepts. The boards showing the voting results are also attached to the summary. Subject 1. Remove the sandbox/litterbox from the play area for 5-12 year olds. 2. Keep the sandbox. 3. Provide speed limit signs and pathway lighting for the park. 4. Combine the elements into one playground for 2-12 year olds so all children can play together and so that it is easier to supervise children in the different age groups. 5. Add a shade tree on the south side of the play area for 2-5 year olds. 6. Add a xylophone or some other musical component to the play equipment. 7. Add adult exercise equipment to the, or next to, the play equipment for 2-5 year olds. 8. Add a regulatory sign that states that adult fitness classes cannot use the playgrounds. There are a number of CrossFit type classes that use the playgrounds currently. 9. Children in the neighborhood like that the play equipment for 2-5 year olds is a different color than the play equipment for 5-12 year olds. The playgrounds are known as the `orange' and the `blue' playground. 10. The more colors for the playground, the better. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT P. O.
