Public Art Installation: <br />Eventide <br />Nancy and Gary Harrington donated a mountain lion sculpture to the City to be located <br />in one of the city parks. <br />■ On January 10, 2019 the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended that <br />multiple sites be evaluated for the installation of the sculpture. <br />■ On January 28, 2019 staff reviewed potential locations for the sculpture at the <br />Alviso Adobe, Moller, Agustin Bernal, and Bernal Parks, along the Marilyn <br />Murphy Kane Trail, and at the Castleridge trailhead. <br />■ Staff continued to seek a location fitting for the sculpture, and will return with <br />plans before the end of the calendar year. <br />Centennial Towers <br />The City is planning to renovate the Centennial Towers Plaza at Civic Park to address <br />the problems with lighting, drainage, and grading. <br />■ In early 2019 the City identified the names of the people and groups that had <br />donated bricks for the plaza. <br />■ In June the City hired an electrical engineer for the electrical aspect of the <br />project. <br />Nurturing Open Space <br />The City sent out a request for art proposals for art at Bernal Community Park with <br />proposals due on May 18, 2018. The City received a variety of proposals and the Civic <br />Arts Commission chose a pollinator friendly sculpture by artist Deedee Morrison. <br />■ On February 20, 2019 City staff met with the artist to determine the exact location <br />of the sculpture and discuss fabrication and installation. <br />■ On May 6, 2019 the artist submitted the structural drawings for the art piece. <br />■ Art piece is being shipped currently with installation expected in August or <br />September. <br />❖ The art piece, including the dedication plaque, was installed the week of September <br />16, 2019. <br />ALTERNATIVE ACTION <br />Any other action as determined by the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />Submitted by: <br />Matt Gruber <br />City Landscape Architect <br />Page 9 of 9 <br />
