MISCELLANOUS PARK PROJECTS <br />The following is a list of small projects that fall into the categories of "routine <br />replacement," "minor renovation" or "public art installation." <br />Minor Renovation: <br />Playground Renovation <br />Consistent with the City's ongoing playground replacement plan, the City is replacing <br />the playgrounds at Orloff Park (one two -to -five year old and one five -to -twelve -year-old <br />play area), Tawny Park (one two -to -five year old and one five -to -twelve -year-old play <br />area), and the big hillside slide at Mission Hills Park. The City sent out an RFQ on July <br />24 for design and construction services for the Mission Hills Slide and received three <br />qualified proposals on August 16. The City sent out an RFQ for the Orloff Park <br />playgrounds on July 15, 2019 and received five qualified proposals on August 6, 2019. <br />Based on the proposals the City chose Miracle Playsystems for Mission Hills Park and <br />SPEC for Hansen Park. <br />■ Public outreach was held at Mission Hills Park for the big slide renovation on <br />December 15, 2018. <br />■ On January 10, 2019 City Staff presented the Mission Hills slide concept plans <br />and public comments to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a <br />recommendation. The Commission recommended moving forward with the <br />design and installation of Option 2. <br />■ The City contracted with Miracle Playsystems for the design of construction <br />documents for the Mission Hills slide renovation on January 31, 2019. <br />■ Miracle Playsystems submitted the 100% construction documents for the Mission <br />Hills slide on June 21, 2019. <br />❖ On July 15, 2019 the City sent out a Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for the Orloff <br />Park playgrounds, which includes a playground for 2-5 year olds and a playground <br />for 5-12 year olds. <br />❖ On July 16, 2019 City Council approved the plans and specifications and awarded <br />the Mission Hills Big Slide project to Miracle Playsystems. <br />❖ On August 1, 2019 the City submitted an application for a California Park and <br />Recreation Society (CPRS) grant to help fund the renovation of playgrounds in <br />Pleasanton. The requested grant amount was $275, 000, with 50% of the funding to <br />be provided by the City and 50% to be provided by CPRS (a total of $137,500 in <br />CPRS funding). On September 13, 2019 the City was notified by CPRS that the City <br />was awarded the grant money. This will allow the City to pursue renovation of the 2 <br />playgrounds at Tawny Park and possibly the playground at Vintage Hills Park. <br />❖ On August 6, 2019 the City received 5 qualified Statement of Qualification (SOQ) <br />packages. Based on the review of the SOQ's staff chose Park Planet to design the <br />Orloff park playgrounds. The Public Outreach for the playgrounds is scheduled for <br />Saturday, October 5, 2019. <br />❖ On September 28, 2019 the City held "The Last Ride" event for the Mission Hills <br />Slide to provide residents with an opportunity to enjoy the slide one last time before <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
