roughly 619 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents (approximately 48 percent
reduction).
Recommendations —Short -Term
• Conduct energy audits at the lowest -performing City facilities. After audits are
completed, install submeters at each of the necessary sites to allow further site-
specific evaluation.
• Develop site-specific goals for each facility in order to target specific areas to
reduce energy use and realize cost savings.
• Implement an Energy Management System to increase the City's control over
energy use through a centralized system.
• Revise the Pleasanton Climate Action Plan using the new energy usage and
benchmarking data.
Recommendations —Long -Term
• Publicly report the City's energy use each year to increase transparency
regarding the City's efforts towards energy efficiency, and encourage community
participation.
• Prioritize and allocate resources through the budget process, to implement and
monitor the recommendations and related actions.
• Strive toward and ultimately reach 100 percent dependency on renewable energy
sources.
Submitted Approved by:
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
Attachments:
1.
