THE CITY OF <br />°t ;�� <br />j�L�£�S�4NTON� <br />13 <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />October 1, 2019 <br />Library and Recreation <br />TITLE: APPROVE THE THREE-YEAR AGREEMENT FOR ADULT SPORTS <br />OFFICIATING SERVICES WITH BAY ISLAND OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION <br />WITH ANNUAL COSTS NOT TO EXCEED $45,000 PER YEAR <br />SUMMARY <br />The City of Pleasanton (City) has historically utilized contract services to provide sports <br />officiating services for City youth and adult sport leagues as well as tournaments. The <br />Adult Basketball and Volleyball League Refereeing Services Agreement (Agreement) <br />for adult basketball and volleyball expired on July 31, 2019. Staff recommends renewing <br />its Agreement with Bay Island Officials Association to provide these services from <br />August 1, 2019 to July 31, 2022. As indicated in the proposed Agreement, Bay Island <br />Officials Association will provide referee selection, training, scheduling, and supervision <br />for adult recreational basketball and volleyball league games. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the three-year agreement for adult sports officiating services with Bay Island <br />Officials Association with annual costs not to exceed $45,000 (Attachment 1). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Compensation is based on a "time -and -materials basis" and cannot exceed $45,000 per <br />year. For the three-year term of the contract, costs are not to exceed $135,000. The <br />cost of the Agreement is offset completely by revenues the City receives from adult <br />recreational sports league registration. Funding is included in the Library and <br />Recreation Department Budget in Account 00150303-430107. <br />
