While she has spoken to various people about the project, she can
participate in hearing the item.
Commissioner Ritter asked if the use of this facility was for knife throwing, whether the project
would be subject to the same process as axe throwing.
Ms. Hagen confirmed. She said staff would categorize it as the same type of use as other
indoor recreational activities, such as bowling, bocce, or dart throwing in which there are teams
and two lanes or more for play. She stated that gun ranges fall into a completely separate land
use category.
Commissioner Pace inquired whether the distinction between uses related to guns versus
axe -throwing is a statute or whether it is under the Pleasanton Municipal Code (PMC).
Ms. Hagen responded that it is not a statute but is rather based upon the PMC and explained
that within the code one of the distinct categories is bowling alleys, pool halls, indoor bocce
courts and other similar uses. He relayed an example of the
Excerpt: Draft Planning Commission Minutes, August 14, 2019 Page 1 of 6
