Support local campaign <br />o Support local campaign needs to make residents aware of the benefit and <br />impact of shopping local and how their money is returned to the city, and <br />can help to offset flattening sales tax revenues <br />o Support local campaign needs to help foster communications between <br />businesses, and differentiated from messaging to residents <br />Doing business with City <br />Requests for qualifications/bids or other contract solicitation available <br />online, and all departments reference the business license list to <br />encourage application <br />o Press release or other media announcing bid solicitations could be used to <br />share opportunity to do business with City <br />o City should work with Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and other local <br />businesses organizations to share bid solicitations and other opportunities <br />to do business with the City. <br />At the May 16, 2019 meeting members received a presentation on sales tax revenues <br />as foundational information for its business support discussion as well as a presentation <br />on the Pleasanton to Pleasanton (P2P) Business Portal; however, given limited time for <br />comments it was requested this item be further discussed at the next regular EVC <br />meeting. Comments from the May 16 meeting included: <br />• P2P Business Portal <br />o A shared communication effort will needed to make the portal successful <br />o How will the portal be managed after year 1? <br />Feedback from the EVC on the following questions will help to guide staff in moving <br />forward: <br />• What key elements might be included in a Doing Business with the City of <br />Pleasanton guide? <br />• What are the key message(s) that could be incorporated into a support local <br />campaign? <br />• What could be added to, or removed from, existing programs? <br />• How could the P2P Business Portal be leveraged within a support local <br />campaign?
